Dr. Riley Moynes has put many of the topics I have written about in a helpful framework.
Enjoy the video and see my comments afterwards.
These four phases ring true, but I’ll add a few comments.
First, each of us will have a unique approach to each of these phases. Remember, this is best described as a general framework, not a plan to follow or a project to complete. Some may jump right into phase 3, others may enjoy the vacation phase for a long time, and perhaps there will be some waffling between phases 2 and 3.
We all have our own story, and the last chapters haven’t been written yet. As one who loves a good story, I’d encourage you to write captivating chapters after you’ve vacationed, worked through your losses, and tried different outlets for your creativity and experience. I watch with interest!
Second, these four phases make the most sense for someone who is healthy. Hopefully that is a safe assumption, but I know many struggle with their own health or spend time caregiving for a loved one who is facing challenges. That would delay or reframe the positive phase 4 experience.
Finally, have any of you experienced one or all of these four phases? Maybe it’s helped you locate where you are and/or given you confidence that there is more to come!
Interesting podcast Judy. Rich and I were surprised with the daily number of retirees per day. Amazing the potential to serve from all the masses of Retirees! The 4 phases were very interesting. Thanks
This is SO good, Judy! Yup, I took notes. Here's to phase 4 service to others - whatever that looks like for us.
